University of Oxford Student Company Four Seven Two Productions returns to Oxford Playhouse from 13 to February 16 2019 with the uplifting musical, Made in Dagenham.

Based on the 2010 film starring Sally Hawkins, Made in Dagenham follows the true story of Rita O’Grady and her 187 female colleagues at Ford Dagenham in 1968, who begin a local battle for equal pay that unexpectedly garners national attention. This prescient tale considers both the celebration and sacrifice of standing up for what you believe in and attests to the continued struggle for equal rights that wages on today.

Oxford-based theatre company Four Seven Two recently captivated audiences with their technologically spectacular original adaptation of Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World(2018). This triumph followed several other productions, including, the Girls Will Be Girls (2017); the company’s celebrated Edinburgh Fringe Festival debut.

Director Miranda Mackay said: “Made in Dagenham bursts onto the stage with irresistible energy and charm. From the first time I listened to the score it completely blew me away. It is about the ‘female sphere’, the home, and by extension how the work that the women do in the factories is systematically undervalued.”

Full of grit and passion, Made in Dagenham is a musical comedy that’s guaranteed to leave the audience inspired.

Tickets for Made in Dagenham at Oxford Playhouse start at £10 and are available from the Ticket Office on 01865 305305 or book online at www.oxfordplayhouse.com
