The Jovial Monk, located on St Andrews Ridge, is the newest addition to the Swindon scene, and already has a long list of bookings for November and December (see listings section for details). Under new management and boasting a great atmosphere, the open mic every Friday night is a stand out part of the new vision for the pub and another step in the right direction for venues in Swindon, and the Wiltshire area as a whole. Since the recent changes to the law governing events in pubs, many have taken up the challenge of putting their own live music events on, with open mic nights springing up left right and centre. But the ‘Monk’ seeks to stand apart from its rivals and offer a platform for every performer.
