Becoming a regular haunt for pre-2000 Trees bands, The Victoria in Swindon will be hosting our very, very special warm up show for JONAH MATRANGA on Thursday 9th July.

In typically low key attitude, without any hyper bowl or over the top fan fair, we let the quality of the acts do the talking, and in JONAH we have managed a real coup!

Jonah laid the blue print to the genre known as Post Hardcore wayy back in the early 90’s in his now legendary band FAR. Gaining enough success to take his music around the world, it wasn’t until the 00’s came and a plethora of UK underground bands such as Funeral For A Friend, Biffy Clyro, Million Dead, 100 Reasons and Reuben etc all cited Far’s 1998 album, Water & Solutions, as their influence, that they came to my attention. By then it was all over for Far, where Jonah had become his own solo act under the name Onelinedrawing. That band was popular with the new emerging Emo crowd as he continued his own legacy¬†and status.¬†

He has released split singles with Frank Turner, guested on records by Thursday and Deftones (as well as Live shows!) formed other bands like Gratitude and New  End Original and was even in a film. Now 2014 and Jonah still performs in Far, Onelinedrawing and now solo under his own name. What ever he plays, his distinct voice and style can be heard, and delivers right to the heart of modern rock music.

Jonah is also our first American friend I’ve had in Swindon and I am absolutely thrilled he enjoyed his first show with us in 2014 to agree to play this one too. Since having extensive dialogue with him too, I’m almost convinced he is the nicest man in rock, barring Chris T-T. Hefty words.¬†

Support for the night comes from TONIGHT WE FLY.¬†This band are now well known in Devizes having played with fellow American, Chris Farren at the tail end of 2014, as well as numerous pub gigs. Their almost indie / alt vibe is the perfect foil for Jonah’s American slant on the sound. We hope you enjoy.¬†

Opener comes from local SHAUN BUSWELL. I’m not sure what sort of set Shaun will do - The guy is capable of anything, anything. And it’s the unknown that excites me.¬†
