Hymns for Robots: electro music trailblazer Delia Derbyshire celebrated at Shoebox Theatre

Noctium Theatre brings the fascinating story of the hero behind The Doctor Who theme tune to the Shoebox Theatre in Swindon this November.

In a small attic, packed in hundreds of cereal boxes, lies the life’s work of Delia Derbyshire - the unsung genius behind the Doctor Who theme tune and trailblazer of electronic music. Using strange sounds and weird wobbulations, Noctium brings you a sonic experience your ears won’t believe.

Hymns for Robots mixes Noctium’s unique heightened performance style with analogue and digital music to bring you an extraordinary life that was almost forgotten. Featuring creative captioning and visual sound, this performance is inclusive for d/Deaf and Hard of Hearing audiences.

Noctium are a Coventry based theatre company that delights in the alien and abstract. Hymns for Robots gets its first ever taste of the Carlisle Fringe this August before embarking on a UK tour later this year.

Hymns for Robots runs from 9-10 November at the Shoebox Theatre, Theatre Square, Swindon SN1 1QN starting at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £10.
