Hog & Hedge launches coffee club to reward Newbury’s heroes

Hog & Hedge is launching a brand-new initiative today to reward Newbury’s unsung heroes.

Locals are being invited to call in to their Northbrook Street site and nominate someone who deserves a free coffee*.  Every Monday a lucky recipient will be chosen, at random, to enjoy one of Hog & Hedge’s famous speciality coffees* completely free of charge.

Rupert Burnell-Nugent, Owner, Hog & Hedge said: “We’ve launched our Coffee Club to celebrate all that is great about Newbury.  It’s such a vibrant and creative town with great community spirit and we’ve been made to feel very welcome since our opening last October.  We’re encouraging locals to nominate friends, family members and colleagues for absolutely anything – for charity work, community projects, as a thank you or simply someone who may need cheering up.”

Those wanting to nominate a special someone should call into Hog & Hedge at 21 Northbrook Street, Newbury and complete a short entry card.

Rupert added: “Our speciality coffee starts its life in the rugged, rolling hills of Brazil and then is hand-roasted in Bristol to our signature taste. Our expert baristas grind the beans to order to craft the perfect cup every time. We’re really looking forward to receiving the nominations and to discovering some local heroes.”

The family-friendly café, opened by Rupert Burnell-Nugent and James Pollock in October last year, offers a healthy alternative to other high street brands and fast food outlets by serving freshly prepared food and speciality coffee, all made on site every day using the very best locally sourced ingredients with value for money in mind.

A good old traditional breakfast using free range eggs and quality local sausages is offered every morning alongside poached eggs on toast and freshly baked pastries.  Lunch time diners can enjoy toasties, jacket potatoes and an enviable selection of handmade sandwiches.  A daily changing soup and a selection of hearty one pot dishes is also available.  Bespoke handmade cakes, speciality coffee, organic Fairtrade teas and delicious hot chocolate are on offer all day.

Hog & Hedge has a variety of zoned areas for guests to enjoy, a bustling downstairs coffee shop with a children’s play area at the back, an upstairs lounge with sofas and views and the cosy rear tabled dining area, all beautifully decorated in heritage tones with comfort and rural relaxation in mind.  USB charging points and sockets for phones and laptops, free wi-fi and free newspapers are also available.

*Lucky Coffee Club winners can choose from a selection of handcrafted coffees or organic Fairtrade tea and delicious hot chocolate if they’d prefer.
