Hawkwood's Seed Festival are crowdfunding to grow the 2017 event

Hawkwood’s Seed Festival, one of the UK’s most exciting ecology and arts events, is crowdfunding to expand their 2017 event.

The festival, which takes place near Stround, returns this year to remind us that together, we are capable of creating extraordinary change. This year’s huge line-up, which includes BBC’s Bruce Parry, Caroline Lucas, Tim Smit and Rob Hopkins, promises to be the best yet, and will be complimented by world-class music from Rising Appalachia, Ganda Boys, Seize the Day’s Shannon Smy, and BBC and Radio 4 Poet Matt Harvey.

This is a critical year for this event - as a charity, Hawkwood takes a huge risk with this event but is passionate about the agenda and the need for change is urgent. The festival team is convinced that a crowdfunding platform is a great way to secure early ticket sales and mitigate the risk.

“This year we are bringing people together to discuss some of the most pressing issues of our time, such as climate change, ethical finance and truly democratic energy provision”, said Hawkwood’s CEO Alicia Carey.

With over 100 contributors, workshops, activities and exhibitions over the weekend, Seed Festival provides a fertile ground for festival-goers to explore their own personal connection to the earth and the challenges of environmental change through music, poetry, debate, nature and community connection. Hawkwood’s Seed Festival celebrates courageous leadership, and becomes a platform for creative expression.

Hawkwood is set in a biodynamic farm, with woodlands, country house, natural spring and grounds provides a wonderful setting to unwind, relax and be nourished in nature.

The festival team have said: “We are at a crossroads, and with growing environmental and political challenges around the world there has perhaps never been a more incremental time to come together and act with our future, and the planet, in mind.

“Here at Hawkwood’s Seed Festival we’re working towards a future to be proud of, and we’re joining with some of the brightest minds to do so. But we need YOUR help during our crowdfunder to make our mission a success and to deliver a truly unforgettable festival this summer, so we can create real and tangible impact on how we live a life that thrives with the natural world.

“But we’re also celebrating the successes of the broader ‘green’ community and the love that sits at the very heart of our movement. ‘We live in the world, when we love it’ Festival organiser quotes Tagore.

“We feel that without positivity, discussion often loses the will to act. We will not stand for that, and neither will our extraordinary line-up of musicians, poets and performers such as Rising Appalachia (USA) on their slow movement tour, the Ganda Boys, Radio 4 Poet Matt Harvey, Seize the Day’s Shannon Smy and Australia’s  Formidable Vegetable Sound System.”

The festival takes place in the Cotswolds this July at Hawkwood College in Stroud, and for its third year we want to make it one of the biggest and best Eco-arts gathering in the UK to date.

So, don’t miss out on this great opportunity to Be the Change! “Through the Crowdfunder campaign the festival will be providing limited and exclusive offers to its supporters, and has prepared a big surprise that will be announcing in the coming days. Keep your eyes peeled. We were born for these times, help us plant the seeds for change.” Victoria Whelan – Festival Producer
