The classes are for dedicated students aged from 14 to 16, and 16 to 18, who are interested in pursuing a career in acting, or plan on going to Drama School.
Artistic Director of the Shoebox, Luke Marquez, said: “The 10 week courses have been designed to give young performers intensive training in contemporary theatre practice, which will be invaluable for those looking to continue studying or working in the performing arts.
“We have been providing quality training to actors in Swindon for over five years now, and people travel from all over the country to attend our classes. As our theatre offering grows, we want to extend this training and performance opportunities to young actors.”
Managed by Wrong Shoes Theatre Company, the Shoebox Theatre is a 50-seat studio space located in the centre of Swindon. It supports new and contemporary theatre and provides a varied programme of training opportunities for Actors.
Award winning actress, Billie Piper, became the patron of the Shoebox in February this year and is keen to support the development young actors from her hometown.
Billie said: “Venues like the Shoebox are really wonderful and important. When I was growing up in Swindon, I came through the traditional drama training routes, which are great, but the Shoebox Theatre offers alternative ways of developing skills and gaining experience, which is really, really exciting!”
Classes are held at the Shoebox Theatre on Monday evenings, starting on the September 25, and cost £60 for a 10 week course.
