'Everyone is on drugs'

West Yorkshire band, Allusondrugs, formed back in 2012 and have since built a sturdy fan-base for their psych-pop-grunge sound.

As well as their loyal followers, Allusondrugs have also caught the attention of various media outlets including BBC Radio One, NME, Kerrang, Q Magazine, and Rock Sound.

For the final stop of their cutting-edge tour, the band will be heading to Oxford’s O2 Academy September 30. Joining them will also be three Oxford-based bands Rats Eat Rats, Slate Hearts, and The Kaos.

Band manager, Jonathon Smith, said: “The band absolutely love coming to Oxford, it’s always such a welcoming and buzzing atmosphere.”

Allusondrugs is a smushed together, grammatically incorrect way of saying ‘everyone is on drugs’.

Outspoken this may seem, but Allusondrugs have a pretty valid point. Basically, this way of thinking is stemmed from their metaphorical outlook on society.

When the band say “drugs” they mean all the mediocre bollocks that society wastes its time over. Meanwhile in the rest of the world, issues like poverty in less advanced countries and the refugee crisis are occurring.

It would appear that a lot of people tend to occupy their time with reality TV, bad diets (like those microwaveable meals), and completely ignore how the media can distort and negatively portray other societies which in turn ends up with the western world demonising them.

The band are bored and pissed off by society’s ignorance towards trivial topics like immigration, y’know the whole “their coming over here and taking our jobs” kinda thing, which has really provoked a certain perspective from the band.

Allusondrugs believe: “We as a society are just mindless drug addicts that need to wake up.”

As a result Allusondrugs have channeled their anger and vocalised their frustration through compelling and unvarnished lyrics, which is probably why they continue to connect and engage with their ever-growing followers.

James Veck-Gilodi, of Deaf Havana, said: “Allusondrugs are one of the best live bands I’ve ever seen, incredible.”
