Former Detective Sergeant turned stand-up comedian Alfie Moore brings his latest stand-up show ‘Getting Away with Murder’ to Swindon Arts Centre June 2. Whilst the topic of murder isn’t a laughing matter Alfie’s show most definitely is. In tackling such a dark subject Moore employs his trademark blend of humour, first-hand police experience and detailed knowledge of the law which he has used so successfully to delight audiences at the Edinburgh Festival and fans of his hit BBC Radio 4 comedy ‘It’s a Fair Cop’ – currently recording its fourth series.
In this fascinating and funny interactive show Alfie draws on historic murder cases and his own personal policing experiences to describe the art and science of murder and its investigation. He skilfully blends his trademark wit and charm with his extensive knowledge of the law as he encourages his audience to experience first-hand how it feels to be part of planning ‘The Perfect Murder’ – with hilarious results!
Alfie said: “Some have been cold calculating psychopaths, others overbearing bullying monsters. But some are just ordinary, normally tolerant people (maybe like you and me) who suddenly crack and add to the tally of 574 homicides in the UK last year. Homicide means ‘Murder and Manslaughter’ or M’n’M’s as we call them in the trade.”
Alfie has gone from strength to strength with TV credits including Comic Relief, ‘Bizarre Crime’ (BBC3), and ‘Confessions of a Police Officer’ (Channel4). He was one of the stars of ‘Show Me the Funny’ (ITV) and recently joined the presenting team of Channel 5’s CCTV crime series ‘Caught on Camera’. He has previously supported Rhod Gilbert, Sarah Millican, Russell Kane and Milton Jones on their national comedy tours.
