Common People curator¬†Rob da Bank¬†said:¬†‚ÄúCommon People was one of my funnest weekends festivaling in 2015, and believe me there was some competition! We loved it so much we decided to share the love with Oxford, another beautiful city and site with a fantastic musical heritage and a thriving arts scene and diverse crowd of party people. I’m really excited to share our first announcement, with some corkers from Primal Scream and Craig David to one of my all-time faves Public Enemy, and up-and-coming acts Jamie Lawson and Kurupt FM. Hope you can come and sing along with the Common People!‚ÄùGaz Photo for Roundhouse gig 5894-1-032_bw_f2_rgb

Oh yes, Saturday 28 May will see a headline set from a soon to be announced Saturday headliner, plus sets from sound system pioneers and dance music trailblazers Soul II Soul, Ed Sheeran protégé Jamie Lawson, Brentford pirate radio crew Kurupt FM, Los Hermanos Cubanos The Cuban Brothers, rockney big shots Chas & Dave, lycra’s leading light Mr Motivator and the Oxford City Singers, with more acts to be announced very soon. Plus there will be bogling Big Top behaviour courtesy of one of reggaes true greats, as David Rodigan MBE presents Ram Jam.

Ensuring that all the Common People come together on Sunday 29 May there will be a hit-packed headline set from rock n roll survivors and indie dance icons, Primal Scream. One of the greatest bands of the past 30 years, Primal Scream have shaped modern music as we know it. From their indie beginnings, through their era defining Screamadelica period to their most recent, incendiary long player, More Light, Bobby Gillespie, Andrew Innes and co have never been anything short of an incredible live force!

Sunday will also see a series of sublime sets from the likes of special guest and platinum album-selling, chart-topping, international superstar Craig David, who will be showcasing his acclaimed TS5 show, hip-hop powerhouse Public Enemy, erstwhile Supergrass frontman and burgeoning solo artiste Gaz Coombes, who commented on his appearance at Common People “Really excited to be playing at the first ‘Common People’ festival next May at South Park. Great it’s happening in my hometown Oxford too, means I can crawl home afterwards.”

And there will be even more music action with lyrical acrobat Ghostpoet, b-boy originators The Sugarhill Gang, glossy rockers Don Broco, super-talented theatre troupe West End Kids and Ran Kan Kan. Plus, we’ll have drum n bass big boys Hospitality taking over the Big Top for some sick beats and colossal bass action.

Adding a touch of outlandish adventure to the inaugural South Park outing there will be an amazing array of venues, bars and food including scrumptious Street Food, Sugar Skulls Cocktail Bar, the Uncommon Stage presented by Nightshift, The People’s Front Room, the Knitting Tent, crafty haven Spinney Hollow, the Bigtopmania Circus, brass-driven joy from Horns of Plenty (Oxford Community Street Band), cocktails galore from The Jam Jar Bar and fantastic arts & crafts, an ace kids area, bouncy castles and more!
