Classic cars, super cars, and hyper cars receive a royal welcome

Families, petrolheads and car enthusiasts flocked to the inaugural Blenheim Palace Classic and Supercar in huge numbers last Sunday.

Despite the overcast skies 10,000 visitors of all ages turned out to enjoy extraordinary access to some of the world’s rarest and most expensive supercars set amidst the amazing setting of Blenheim Palace.

Boasting the title of the UK’s only Concours for modern supercars, the event hosted over 1,000 supercars and hypercars with no fewer than 150 Ferraris on display from Ferrari Owners’ Club members.

‘Best in Show’ was the stunning Lamborghini Countach LP400S. This car is a right-hand drive and one of 237 cars produced, its design pioneered and popularised the wedge-shaped, sharply angled look popular in many high-performance sports cars.

The People’s Choice award went to the incredible Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR Roadster, it is one of two RHD examples built. Rarely seen in public before, this unique car is the only RHD Roadster from 6 produced in total.

Matteo Barbieri, Pirelli says: “Once again the Pirelli Prestige and Performance Competition was a great success and  Blenheim Palace provided the perfect backdrop for these equally stunning cars.

“Congratulations to all the winners including the winner of the Pirelli Best in Show award, the Lamborghini Countach RHD series III LP 400s.”

Live commentary was provided by Nicki Shields and Andrew Bagley, with the world’s fastest supercar, the Bugatti Chiron on display in the Palace background; this proved an unmissable event for the thousands of automotive enthusiasts.

Event co-founder Andrew Bagley said: “We were thrilled and a little taken aback by the public’s positive response to the first ever Blenheim Palace Classic and Supercar event.

“Having so many of the world’s finest supercars and hypercars on display together in the Great Court was simply breathtaking and rather extraordinary.”

Co-founder, and brother, David Bagley added: “The line-up of classic and modern Ferraris which flanked the approach to the Palace from the Vanbrugh Bridge to celebrate the Italian marque’s 70 anniversary was really special.

“We are already looking forward to planning the 2018 event.”
