Young people who fancy their talents as a documentary filmmaker are invited to enter a competition using their mobile phones to film the hidden world of the Oxford Canal.
This year’s Oxford Canal Festival is looking for film enthusiasts aged from 5 to 16 years to make short videos (lasting no more than a minute) capturing Oxford’s best-kept secrets. Applicants can draw inspiration from any aspect of the Canal, from wildlife to boats and canal architecture – or anything else that interests them.
Once their film is complete, they can post it up online for the judges to view, using social media tools such as Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/YouTube.
The winners in each category will receive a cash prize and see their entries screened at a special event during the Oxford Canal Festival on Saturday September 8.
The competition judges are Geron Swann, centre director of Film Oxford and TV producer, director and BAFTA winner Antonia Lloyd.
Competition categories are 5 to 8 years, 9to 12 years and 13 to 16 years.
Deadline for entries is August 25 2018, with the Canal Festival taking place September 8 to September 9.
