Boomtown is Booming

This summer is looking to be one of the best and super hot, but which festival will take the mantle as this summer’s best festival?

With beloved Glastonbury not in the running (this year is a fallow year), there are a number of wonderful festivals that could come out top of the lot but one stands out a little more.

Boomtown Fair has grown year on year with this year (its tenth) being the biggest so far with tickets selling in record timing. What started off as a small festival has developed into one of the UK’s top largest festivals, now a 60,000 capacity event, Boomtown by name Boomtown by nature.

So what’s Boomtown’s secret? A great line up is always a key ingredient for a festival’s success and Boomtown has nailed this every year, resulting in a tribe of loyal Boomtown attendees.

It’s quite common for festivals to have a theme but for Boomtown a theme is just not enough and each year it has elevated this into a whole immersive storyline. The bands and acts are not just chosen and booked but painstakingly curated in order to best reflect each year’s new chapter. The curator for Boomtown’s line up chooses the acts very carefully.

The attention to detail with Boomtown’s organisation is like making the impossible possible. It almost feels like consideration is truly given to every single suitable act. Then acts from well established known names and lesser known ones are selected along with a huge amount of recognition to emerging performers.

Well known names on this years line up are Gorillaz and Die Antwoord and Limp Bizkit, with previous years headliners including Cypress Hill, Madness and Damian Marley.

Lesser known but just as well established acts featuring this year are Dubioza Kollective, Deluxe and My Baby. With emerging bands such as Aleighcia Scott, POI (Persons Of Interest) and The Tribe also performing.

But there’s still so much more than this as the festival has a unique approach with its immersive story line. Many festivals have themes but Boomtown goes next level with a special interactivity unknown at any other festival.

Over the years the story line has evolved and Boomtown Fair has become the UK’s most theatrical and immersive music festival. It ties together interactive theatre with an overarching storyline, and a soundtrack boasting one of the most diverse musical line ups on offer. The story has become more intricate as it’s become closely followed by Boomtown’s hive of loyal regular festival goers.

Last year saw the story focusing more on the characters and really getting those personalities across, coming to life from the storyline into the festival.

No doubt this year will see everything the music, the theatrics, the facilities, the storyline, the characters and more taken to a whole other realm. One thing you can be sure of is that there is bound to be many new experiences, memorable surprises and never a dull moment at Boomtown.

Boomtown Fair is taking place at the Matterley Estate nr Winchester, Hampshire over 9th - 12th August, for more info and if you’re lucky last minute ticket resales, visit www.boomtownfair.co.uk
