The 18-year-old singer-songwriter showcases her remarkable storytelling ability through unflinchingly profound visuals, depicting the life and growing pains of young Gen-Z Nigerians navigating societal pressures and insecurities.
Speaking of ‘DITR’, Ayra Starr said: “DITR is an ode to Gen Z. We’re coming of age in a really weird, scary time and I hope this lets people know that they’re not alone.”
Following her debut in January as Mavin Records’ newest signing, Beninese-Nigerian Ayra Starr has racked up over 18 million global streams with her debut EP “Ayra Starr” (listen here).
The EP was led by the empowering anthem ‘Away’, which has amassed over 3 million views to date (watch here). After posting a series of covers on Instagram, Ayra was discovered by acclaimed record executive/producer Don Jazzy and was subsequently signed to Mavin Records. Having spearheaded the careers of luminaries Wande Coal, D’Banj, Tiwa Savage and Rema, Don Jazzy and Mavin Records are set to launch Ayra as West Africa’s first female global teen superstar.
