‚ÄúWilde Without the Boy‚Äù is Gareth Armstrong‚Äôs award-winning dramatisation of ‚ÄúDe Profundis‚Äù, the searingly passionate love letter Oscar Wilde wrote to his lover, Lord Alfred Douglas, from his cell in Reading gaol.¬†Two years previously, Wilde had been sentenced to two years hard labour for ‚Äò‚Ķacts of gross indecency with other males…‚Äô

 

The piece is performed by Gerard Logan (Olivier Nominee ‚Äì RSC), who won The Stage ‚ÄúBest Solo Performer of the 2011 Edinburgh Festival Award‚Äù for his acclaimed performance in Gareth Armstrong‚Äôs production of Shakespeare‚Äôs ‚ÄòThe Rape of Lucrece‚Äô. Gerard went on to win the “Best Actor” award at the 2014 Buxton Fringe Festival for his performance in ‚ÄòWilde Without the Boy‚Äô and the show completely sold-out during this year‚Äôs Edinburgh Festival.
