All aboard and full steam ahead for The Wessex Summer concert

The award-winning Wessex Male Choir hopping aboard another set of tour dates, stopping off at the historic Steam Museum.

Following on from their success at both the Mid Somerset and Cheltenham Music Festivals where they took first prize in the Male Voice Choir class, Swindon’s award-winning Wessex Male Choir will host their Summer Concert at Steam Swindon 14 July 2018.

This year the concert promises to be a feast of new music along with some old favourites from the Choir and will be held in the Great Hall of the Steam Museum. This historical venue allows the Choir to showcase their hard work from the previous season. Even more so this year as the choir is on top form and about to record their fourth CD Memory which will be launched at the concert.

The Choir’s Musical Director Rhiannon Williams said: “The work the Choir has put in over the last year has been phenomenal. Learning new music for our two competitions and the new CD has been hard work and even more so for the new members of the Choir who have joined us in 2018. But our success in the competitions has made it all worthwhile – we came first in the three classes we entered at the Mid Somerset show.

“Steam 2018 will be night to remember and promises to be a fabulous evenings entertainment”

This year the Wessex is joined by The Magnificent AK47, a band of unruly minstrels who hale from Ashton Keynes. Fresh from winning the 2018 PEACE Trophy at the Cork International Choral Festival in Ireland, they will entertain with songs with a serious side to tunes with profound insight into modern male angst. Oh, and they wear hats.
