A whole new world of puppets awaits us all this summer

On Saturday, 25 July Marlborough will open up to a world of puppetry for an extra special puppetry festival.

It’ll start with Phoenix Brass leading a parade through the High Street followed by puppetry performances for all ages at venues throughout the town.

Three years ago, in July 2017, the first ever Puppetry Festival was held to mark the 70th anniversary of when Bob Pelham, in 1947, started his world-renowned Pelham Puppets in Marlborough.

The festival was hugely successful leaving visitors and the local community asking for more.

In 2020, there will be memories from where it all began alongside a whole new range of puppetry performances to experience, explore and enjoy. The festival is supported by Marlborough Town Council, Marlborough & District Rotary Club, the Merriman Partnership and more and are now looking for both local and national sponsors to bring it to life.

The event in 2017 attracted thousands of people and it was a great opportunity for businesses to get involved whilst, at the same time, promoting their own products or services.

A funding commitment will bring publicity on the festival’s website and social media, banner and programme advertising and free tickets to a performance too.

World of Puppets 2020 would not be possible without an amazing team of volunteers working during the weeks leading up to the event. Keep an eye on our website and social media channels for callouts.
