A double whammy of huge talent at The Wee Gig

Two of the UK’s most talked about emerging songwriters, Dan Whitehouse and Jess Morgan, bring their tour to Abingdon’s The Wee Gig Friday October 14.

This is a striking musical partnership that started when the pair wrote and recorded material for Dan Whitehouse’s Reveal Records debut ‘That’s Where I Belong’ in 2016. This is a great opportunity to see solo sets from both artists as well as a collaboration.

Wolverhampton-born Dan Whitehouse is a singer/songwriter who’s beautiful, classic sounding songs have been described succinctly as ‘ Black Country Soul’. New album ‘That’s Where I Belong’ is a major artistic success.

The nine songs on the Danny George Wilson produced set are confident, confessional, cohesive and engaging. Dan finished off 2016 with his own successful headline shows in London and Birmingham before being invited to open for Brooklyn’s Joan As Police Woman in March 2017 for her only UK concerts.

Maverick Magazine said: “Personal snapshots from the heart – a fine songwriter.”

Jess Morgan is a songwriter’s songwriter: constantly touring, constantly writing. Inspired by storytelling songwriters like Nancy Griffith, the playfulness of Devon Sproule and upfront British voices like Billy Bragg, expect a tumbler of unfancified roots music – with heart, with passion, with gusto.

Maverick Magazine said: “This girl could rock out hard, just as easily as she can keep it folk. Be sure to add this one to your collection.”

Dan first collaborated with Jess on the songs ‘Close Up’ and ‘Bars’ for his album, and this joint tour promises to be something really special.
