2000 Trees announce 38 bands all in one delicious lump!

Slaves, Jamie Lenman, Nothing But Thieves… and that’s just for starters as 2000Trees festival announces 38 bands for the 2017 event.

The 11th year of Trees has seen records broken in ticket sales, surpassing last years record before bands were even announced.

The full lineup also includes Pulled Apart By Horses, Dinosaur Pile-Up, Feed the Rhino, Muncie Girls, Black Foxxes, Area 11, Queen Kwong, Steven Battelle, Vukovi, The One Hundred and many more.

Slaves have been announced as the first headliners of this years Trees, showing the festivals commitment to the latest up and coming acts charging through the scene with the likes of Tigercub, Bad Sign, Louise Distras and The St Pierre Snake Invasion also appearing over the weekend.

But of course, Trees always has some legends sprinkled into the mix with the likes of Jamie Lenman (Reuben) and Jonah Matranga (FAR & Onelinedrawing) flying the banner for returning Trees alumni.

And of course, the now infamous Camps will allow you to get up close and personal with some of the country’s best acoustic performers and might even bring a few surprises. Last year Dave McPherson from InMe performed under the Camp Turner banner to a huge crowd…. at 1am!

Festival organiser James Scarlett says: “We had a phenomenal 10th anniversary last year. The atmosphere was so special and the feedback was just incredible, so it was always going to be a tough task to top that, but ALL our efforts have gone into doing just that and we are unbelievably excited for 2017.

“As a 100% independent festival, we have always sought to maintain the intimate, friendly and fun vibe that sets smaller events apart and we are growing organically with amazing ideas in the pipeline to help

“2000trees Festival to really flourishing as one of the best small festivals in the UK”

You can read our report from the 10th anniversary event last year below:

Firstly, I have to say the staff at 2000 Trees make the whole weekend so pleasant and easy, they deserve the highest praise. The community, including those that man the assorted (and now famous) camps such as Camp Reuben, Turner and Marwood are also totally welcoming, receptive and tight-knit in the best possible way, so I have to thank them for the experience.
The opening Thursday saw the Axiom stage taken over by Xtra Mile Recordings with their artists setting the tone for the whole festival. Ben Marwood received a hero’s welcome after returning from a year’s medical hiatus, and the ‘not-so-secret’ headliner Frank Turner arrived early to help his old friend with a few tunes in emphatic style. Unfortunately, Mr Turner then proceeded to apparently get quite drunk, as his own set was a little slurred and tired but still maintained an impressive power over the huge crowd amassed inside and around the Axiom tent.
The Cave stage was host to the heavier side of the musical spectrum, with a personal highlight of the opening day being Black Peaks. The group have rocketed into the national spotlight this year, with their debut release ‘Statues’ sounding utterly huge live. Drummer Liam Kearley said: “We are just having the best time at the moment and the crowd here at Trees welcomed us with open arms. This festival is incredible and has been on our list to play for a long time. We had always heard it was so genuine and down to earth, so it’s great to finally get here and enjoy it first-hand.”

Friday dawned to the sounds of more musical chaos, with acts such as math rockers Press To MECO manning the early shifts on the smaller stages. Having also never played at 2000 Trees before, the young three piece were complimentary and visibly bursting with energy after their incredible set on the Axiom stage, which guaranteed them a legion of new followers. Guitarist Luke Caley and drummer Lewis Williams said “We’ve loved it here this weekend, we are going to stick around and probably get very drunk! The line-up is simply brilliant and loads of our friends are here playing as well. We couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to 2000 Trees and the crowds have made it so special.”
I can honestly say as a weekend experience, 2000 Trees is fantastic. As a first foray into the festival world, I can’t speak from experience, but it will definitely take some beating.
I would definitely recommend you get your tickets early for 2017. You will not be disappointed.
