Hark, what light through yonder Swindon breaks? Forsooth it is but The Vic rockin' the place to a bit of Shakespeare induced music!
It all happens on Wednesday September 5 at The Vic in Swindon. Shakespeare meets rock n roll in an extravaganza that will seduce your ears and your brains.
| Shakespeare, Rattle and Roll is a funny and fast- moving solo show looking at the life, loves and language of Shakespeare, through famous renditions of his speeches, sonnets and, in particular, his songs.
The songs have been re-set in more contemporary music styles such as Dylan, Elvis, and The Beatles. Shakespeare, Rattle and Roll! is written and performed by Martin Dimery, who is a regular at the Vic when impersonating "John Lennon" in Sgt. Pepper's Only Dart Board Band. Martin was originally an actor, and has appeared on stage and TV. He has written commercially published plays, and his book about life on the road with Sgt. Pepper's Only Dart Board Band called "Being John Lennon" remains the only biography of a tribute band ever published. The Vic hosts the premier of Shakespeare Rattle and Roll prior to a residency at Stratford on Avon and theatre tour. |
