Fieldview is an independent, grass roots music and arts festival which was founded by the Cameron Brothers in 2007 after an annual garden party outgrew its humble surrounding.

This year the festival, which for 2012 has a myths and fairy tales theme, takes place from Thursday August 2 to Sunday August 5 at Little Somerford, Wiltshire.

Fieldview has a very simple philosophy: everyone has the power to have a positive impact in every action and decision they take. Fieldview uses this idea to run the festival as ethically as humanly possible from its handbuilt compostable ‘posh’ toilets to making sure the the artists it books live in the UK and don’t fly in especially for the festival.

And what a line-up they’ve got this year.

One that we’re really excited about is Lucy Rose, the amazingly talented singer-songwriter from Warwickshire. Lucy is one of those artists that is talked about everywhere, from 6music to Vogue. Lucy’s singles ‘Middle of the bed’ and ‘Scar’ are delicate, thoughtful and evoke a heck of a lot of emotions for Fieldview fans.

Joining Lucy is Kyla La Grange, widely compared to Florence, this part South-African, part-Zimbabwean has a dark and powerful feeling to her carefully crafted songs.

Also in attendance is the vibrant and dramatic Electric Swing Circus. This six-piece band from south Birmingham has been impressing audiences and racking up the Youtube hits with their 20’s swing-infused electro-beats.

One band to keep an eye out for this year is the hugely popular 7-piece Leeds based Submotion Orchestra and their album ‘Finest Hour’, described by BBCs David Katz as: “Dubstep meets avant-garde jazz”. There will also be talented Swindonian Josh Kumra, notable for his song ‘Don’t Go’ in collaboration with Wretch 32 and Picture Book and their anthemic hit ‘Sunshine’.

They join a host of other acts including Ocelot favourites  Spring Offensive from Oxford and Swindon’s Old Colours. Oh, and Gaz Brookfield, who we might have mentioned once or twice before in these very pages.
