Then Jericho are described as an ‘iconic 80s rock band’, and indeed they sound like a mash-up of U2, Echo and the Bunnymen and Duran Duran.
They even have that distinctive 80s sound of quasi-African-percussiony-lots-of-clicky-things going on (there may be a technical name for this final observation, but damned if I can find it…anyway you know what I’m talking about, so hush).
For several years in the late 80s these guys were massive; their melodramatic expansive sound perfectly in tune with their surroundings. And now, in a kindly effort to raise our country out of economic gloom and back into 80s opulence, they have reformed and are touring their 1989 gold-selling album ‘The Big Area’ in its entirety. They are playing the O2 Academy in Oxford on Friday September 28, so come in your huddled masses to either reminisce or discover one of the late 80s biggest bands.
