As far as us lot at The Ocelot are concerned real ale is the nectar of the gods. It’s beautiful stuff with its endless varietes and should be celebrated as much as possible.

That’s why we’re all getting quite excited about The Old Bear Beer Festival which takes place on Sunday August 26 from midday until close.

In case you didn’t know The Old Bear is in the centre of the Saxon town of Cricklade. It’s set in a beautiful building right in the centre of the high street.

But this is a beer festival with a twist as there will also be a vintage fair in the car park during the day.

Add to all of this a hog roast and a barbecue from Perry Griffin (available on 07821 145453) as well as local musician Steve Degutis playing throughout the day and you’ve got the perfect recipe for a day out.

This’ll be the first ever beer festival at The Old Bear and the landlord and landlord Steve and Theresa Cleverly want to make it an annual event.

Your first beer will cost £4 but that comes with a special souvenir pint glass that you can take home and after that it will be £3 a pint.

The breweries lined up so far include Ramsbury Brewery, West Berkshire Brewery and Hook Norton Brewery plus more to be announced.

In the car park there will be vintage clothes, furniture and jewellery plus hair and make-up so you can look the part. There will also be cup cakes, cream teas and plenty more.

If you want more information about the vintage fair or would like a stall email zaradorris@yahoo.co.uk
