A DANCE RED CARPET EVENT AND DRAMA DIRECT FROM A SELL-OUT AT THE NATIONAL THEATRE at the Burton Taylor Studio with Rising from Tuesday 25 to Thursday 27 September and Black T-shirt Collection  from Friday 28 and Saturday 29 September

Rising is a unique dance event from Tuesday 25 to Thursday 27 September at the Burton Taylor Studio. Performed by Aakash Odedra, Rising uses dance, video and music to explore different processes and aesthetics that create a new, personal language. Aakash performs solo pieces choreographed by some of the foremost contemporary choreographers working today, including Akram Khan who recently choreographed a section of Danny Boyle’s Isles of Wonder London 2012 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony, in which he also performed. Aakash will also perform work choreographed by Russell Maliphant, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, and a piece of his own.  Rising uses Aakash’s background in Kathak and Bharatanatyam creating a new flavour of contemporary dance.

Direct from the National Theatre sell-out run, Black T-shirt Collection is a new play by award-winning Inua Ellams playing on Friday 28 and Saturday 29 September at the Burton Taylor Studio. Black T-shirt Collection is a story about two foster brothers building a global T-shirt brand. On their journey from a market in Nigeria to a sweatshop in China, Matthew and uhammed discover the consequences of success. Inua merges visual art, poetry and theatre, telling stories with iconic imagery, humour and beauty.
