Tis' the time of the apple and its goodly nutritions; but let's get straight to the core of the subject. Yes, cider..
And the Winchester Gate’s Cider Festival in Rampart Road, Salisbury, is paying homage to this. Warning: bad puns ahead.
Over the course of the fest's four days, from Thursday October 25 from 4pm to closing time on Sunday October 28, attendees may experience some interesting cider-ffects, however these should in no way detract from one's over-ale experience.
Ciders arranged so far are from Cornish Orchards and Penpol Farm (both Cornwall) and from Sandford Orchards, Green Valley Cyder Co., Thompstone's Cider, Chucklehead Cider, Winkleigh Cider Co. and Wiscombe Cider (all in Devon). There will be up to 10 ciders and perrys in total.
In addition, they hope to have Grandma's Weapons Grade Ginger Beer from Wheal Maiden Brewery in Cornwall. Food will be a variety of quality sausages from the Salisbury Sauasage Shop.
The entry’s free, so there’s no reason to be out-cider fun.
But where is the music? On Friday night there’s Dreams Divide. And then as part of an all day cidery extravaganza there will be loads of acts from 3pm on the Saturday including Kentucky Fight Club, Blue Stone Walls and The I's. So be prepeared!
