Oxjam Takeover in Oxford raises over £5000

If you read last month’s news in the magazine about the Oxjam Takeover in Oxford, you’ll be aware that it was a pretty packed out lineup across multiple venues in East Oxford, along Cowley Road and beyond.

Over 70 bands performed during the 14 hour marathon of music and arts at nine venues, run solely by volunteers who helped the whole event run smoothly.

Performers included gypsy folk troupe Balkan Wanderers, singer songwriter Esther Joy Lane and Oxford’s beloved alt-rock trio Ute, who reformed just in time to play.

Posting on the Oxjam Takeover facebook page, the organisers thanked the amazing community who helped make the fundraising possible, and praised the venues for all their assistance. Their page said: “Another year, another show-stopping Jam.

“Thank you to everybody who got involved, our volunteers, supporters, donors, sponsors, and as always we cannot give enough thanks to all of the bands who gave up their time and took part, even those who couldn’t make it – we still thank you anyway.

“And thank you Oxford for yet again being such an amazing crowd and just having a good time with us all in aid of such an amazing and important cause.”

If you want to get involved with the Oxjam Takeover in 2017, or can think of a way to make it even better next year, head over to their page and get to work:
